Surakimu Lanka - Let’s Unite Today for our Country’s Tomorrow! 💡⚡
As a nation, we are facing a challenging period. Due to the current instability in the Middle East, there are potential risks to our fuel and energy supply. Furthermore, we must prepare for the upcoming “El Niño” weather conditions, which could lead to a dry season ahead.
Since a major portion of our electricity is generated through hydropower, using both water and electricity sparingly is now a national responsibility. Let’s all contribute to the national program “Surakimu Lanka – Unite – Let’s Light up the Nation” starting today! 🤝✨
Here are a few simple but highly impactful steps we can take:
-
👕 Iron Clothes During the Day: Electricity demand hits its peak at night. Try to iron your clothes for the entire week during the daytime. This significantly reduces the load on the national grid.
-
⏰ Be Mindful of Peak Hours: Electricity consumption is at its highest between 6:00 PM and 10:00 PM. During this time, try to limit the use of heavy appliances like washing machines and air conditioners.
-
💡 Switch Off Unnecessary Lights: Only light up the rooms you are currently using. Don't forget to flip the switch whenever you leave a room or when light is not needed.
-
☀️ Maximize Natural Light: During the day, open your curtains and let the natural sunlight in. It’s a great way to avoid using bulbs during daytime hours.
-
💧 Use Water Sparingly: Remember, water is our primary source of electricity. Saving water is indirectly saving electricity and securing our future energy.
-
🔌 Unplug Unused Appliances: Don't just turn off your TV or Computer using the remote; unplug them from the socket. Appliances consume a small amount of power even in Standby Mode.
This is not a restriction or a forced rule. This is a voluntary contribution coming from our hearts for the sake of our motherland. ❤️🇱🇰
Let’s start practicing energy efficiency today for “A Rich Country – A Beautiful Life!”
